What this hub is
Step-by-step guides: Windows installer, portable build, F8 overlay, SHA-256 verification, backups and anti-cheat rules.
DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.9 is a free MIT Windows desktop app by Rakan Alkhaldi (community project). The public landing still shows Download, features and checksums only. This hub exists so search engines and AI crawlers can open a clean HTML/Markdown URL for the topic.
Native DLSS games upgrade in place. Non-DLSS DX9/11/12, Vulkan and OpenGL titles use the DLSS5-Feeder route. The F8 overlay tunes the neural pass live. Restore originals puts every file back.
How to use Swapper after you read this
Download the Windows installer or portable build, scan your library, pick a route per game, and keep or restore the backup if a title needs stock DLLs. Skip online and anti-cheat titles entirely.

- Download DLSS 5 Swapper for Windows Get the v2.2.9 installer or portable build for Windows 10/11 x64. Both ship every component.
- Install the DLSS 5 Swapper app Normal Windows install. No driver downgrade needed since v2.2.8.
- Run your first DLSS 5 swap First-run path: scan, back up, install one route, test borderless.
- What the Install button does Install backs up stock files, copies the route, and records history. That sentence is the product.
- One click, no DLL hunting No manual folder digging. Install is the setup.
- Tune the neural pass from F8 The F8 panel moves Style, Intensity, Structure, Skin and stabiliser live on Feeder and RenoDX routes.
- Restore a game's original files One click returns the folder byte-for-byte. Do this before online play or uninstalling.
- Backups, history and diagnostics Every install keeps records. Save diagnostics bundles logs for reports.
- Verify your download with SHA-256 Compare both hashes against the release SHA256SUMS.txt. Never trust password-protected re-uploads.
- Single-player only: the anti-cheat rule VAC, EAC and BattlEye can ban injected mods. The app warns; it never bypasses.
- Scan Steam games into Swapper Controlled scanning finds Steam titles; add folders manually for the rest.
- Add Epic, GOG and Xbox folders Modern Xbox folders plus Epic and GOG roots are supported alongside Steam.
- Add PCSX2, RPCS3, Cemu and more Select the emulator folder plus its active renderer, then use ReShade/Feeder.
- DX12 native DLSS route Eligible DX12 games upgrade DLSS in place with the F8 overlay.
- DX11 Feeder route (32/64-bit) Feeder supplies neural inputs via ReShade 6.8.0. Use dxgi.dll or d3d11.dll per game.
- Legacy route via dgVoodoo2 2.87.5 DX9 32/64-bit and DX8/DirectDraw 32-bit bridge through dgVoodoo2 to DX11 to Feeder.
- Vulkan and OpenGL via Feeder ReShade/Feeder path plus eligible Vulkan OptiScaler bridges.
- Multipass: neural pass up to 10x per frame RenoDX DLSS Tool build with per-pass Style, Intensity, Structure and Skin. Press Home in game.
- OptiScaler 0.8.92 route per game Pre-SR multipass fork with periphery scaling. Blackwell model bundled; older cards supply their own.
- RenoDX DLSS5 6.5.3 route Native and Feeder consumer with full F8 support on current drivers.
- RHI graphics route RHI rendering tweaks managed alongside the DLSS stack.
- Swap nvngx_dlss.dll to 310.9.1 Direct DLL replacement with backup. Newer game files are left untouched.
- Style, Intensity, Structure, Skin What each F8 control changes and safe starting values.
- Game crashes after install Version conflicts and stale shaders cause most crashes. Restore-first recovery.
- F8 overlay will not open Route, bitness and API decide overlay support. Multipass uses Home.
- Fix DLSS5-Feeder issues Readable DX9 messages, same-device D3D12 sessions and clean Wine stops in 1.17.0.
- Windows 10 and 11 setup 64-bit Windows only. No Linux binaries; Proton is experimental.
- VC++ runtimes for the Feeder path x64 required, plus x86 for 32-bit games.
- Driver 616.56+ and newer Any current driver works. Old v4.7 faults are gone with RenoDX 6.5.3.
- DLSS 5 Swapper system requirements Windows 10/11 x64, RTX 20/30/40/50, current driver, VC++ runtimes.
- How much VRAM DLSS 5 needs The neural pass costs VRAM. On 8 GB cards use 85% model resolution and one pass; 12 GB cards are the 1440p tier; 4K neural passes want 16 GB or more.
Host-only queries
- Cinematic DLSS 5 setup, start to finish Install to saved look in one pass: native or Feeder route, Quality at your real output, stabiliser on, Structure before Style, save per game.
- Ultrawide DLSS 5 setup for a cinematic image 3440×1440 pushes about a third more pixels than 16:9 1440p. Budget VRAM between the 1440p and 4K tiers and start at one pass.
- OLED and HDR setup for cinematic DLSS 5 OLED shows near-black noise and edge ringing sooner than LCD. Enable HDR in Windows and the game, keep Style low and the stabiliser on.
- A fair DLSS 5 before/after test Same camera, same preset, same sharpening. Use Restore originals for the stock capture, then re-install the route for the swapped one.
- DLSS Quality vs Balanced vs Performance Quality renders about 67% of the output per axis, Balanced 58%, Performance 50%. Cinema starts at Quality; Performance is a 4K-output compromise.
- Render resolution vs model resolution in DLSS 5 Render resolution is what the game draws before DLSS: Quality is about 67% per axis. Model resolution is the scale the neural pass runs at; 85% is the 8 GB setting.
- DLSS 5 on a 4K 120 Hz TV Use an HDMI 2.1 port and the TV's game mode, set 3840×2160 at 120 Hz with G-SYNC or VRR, then aim for about 60 base FPS and let Frame Generation fill 120 on RTX 40 and 50.
FAQ
What is DLSS 5 Swapper?
A free MIT-licensed Windows app that installs, tunes and restores NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering across native DLSS games, non-DLSS games via DLSS5-Feeder, and supported emulators.
Which GPUs work?
RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 Series for the ReShade/Feeder routes. The bundled OptiScaler neural model is Blackwell-only; older cards need a supplied modded nvngx_dlssnr.dll.
Do games need native DLSS?
No. Native titles upgrade in place; games without DLSS use the DLSS5-Feeder 1.17.0 + ReShade 6.8.0 route on DX9/11/12, Vulkan and OpenGL.
How do I undo everything?
Select the game and click Restore originals. Uninstalling the app alone does not touch game folders.
